    How We Verify Data

RoamWorthy combines official data sources, manufacturer specifications, and dealer verification to provide accurate weight, dimension, and pricing information for caravans, motorhomes and campervans across the UK.

    Our Data Sources

    DVLA & Official Registries

    Primary

Vehicle registration data, kerbweights, and towing capacities from official UK government sources.

    Manufacturer Specifications

    Primary

MTPLM, MiRO, dimensions and layout data direct from caravan and motorhome manufacturers.

    Verified Dealer Feeds

    Verified

Stock listings, pricing and availability from our network of vetted UK dealers.

    Industry Publications

    Supplementary

Supplementary data from Practical Caravan, MMM, and other trusted trade sources.

    Our Verification Process

    1

    Cross-Reference Multiple Sources

We compare weight and specification data across at least two independent sources before publishing. Discrepancies are flagged for manual review.

    2

    Dealer Identity Verification

All dealers undergo identity checks including Companies House registration, physical address verification, and FCA authorisation for finance.

    3

    Automated Freshness Checks

Listings are checked daily for accuracy. Sold vehicles are removed within 24 hours of dealer notification.

    4

    User Feedback Integration

We actively monitor user reports and update data within 48 hours of verified corrections.

    Tool Accuracy

    Towing Calculator

Our towing calculator uses official DVLA kerbweight and towing capacity data where available. When reg lookup data is incomplete, we offer AI-assisted lookups clearly marked as estimates.

    • DVLA data marked as "Official"
    • AI estimates marked as "AI lookup"
    • Manual entries marked as "Your input"

The 85% stability guideline is recommended by The Caravan Club and NCC. Legal limits (max braked towing capacity and Gross Train Weight) are checked separately. Always confirm figures on your vehicle's VIN plate.

    Motorhome Weight and Licence Checker

Checks whether a motorhome requires a C1 licence based on its Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). The 3,500kg threshold determines whether a standard Category B car licence is sufficient.

    • GVW from DVLA records and manufacturer specs
    • Payload calculated from GVW minus unladen weight
    • Pre-1997 licence entitlement factored in when toggled

Always check the VIN plate for the definitive GVW before buying. Figures can vary by trim and factory options.

    Caravan Payload and Noseweight Calculators

Payload is calculated from MTPLM minus MIRO (or stated payload where available). Noseweight targets are set at 5-7% of laden weight, capped by the lowest of caravan, car, and towbar limits.

    • MTPLM and MIRO from manufacturer records
    • Realistic load scenarios include water, gas, awning, and personal kit
    • Weight limit warnings when total approaches legal MTPLM

A public weighbridge is the only way to confirm actual loaded weight before touring.

    Dimensions Check

Compares vehicle height, width and length against real-world constraints such as car park barriers, garage openings, ferry decks, and low bridges.

    • Dimensions from manufacturer specs and model database
    • Safety buffers: 5cm height, 10cm width, 20cm length
    • Accessories, pop-tops and roof boxes can change dimensions

    Campervan Conversion Checker

Checks the DVLA body type classification, ULEZ compliance based on Euro class, and power adequacy for a loaded campervan.

    • Body type, fuel, and Euro class from official DVLA records
    • Cannot verify physical conversion quality or condition
    • Always inspect the V5C document and conversion in person
