About Danbury campervans
Founded in 1964, Danbury built its reputation converting the iconic Volkswagen Type 2 Transporter. For over five decades, the brand has remained a prominent name in the British campervan industry, initially gaining recognition for its work with classic air-cooled VW models. A significant milestone occurred when Danbury began importing and converting the final production run of air-cooled Volkswagen T2s from Brazil, catering to a niche market of enthusiasts who sought classic aesthetics with modern registration plates. The company successfully transitioned its expertise from classic 'Bay Window' platforms to contemporary water-cooled chassis as the industry evolved. In 2017, Danbury was acquired by the Trigano Group, one of Europe’s largest leisure vehicle conglomerates. This acquisition introduced significant investment into the Somerset-based facility, facilitating further modernisation while maintaining the brand's boutique British heritage. Today, Danbury operates as a key UK manufacturer, combining decades of conversion experience with modern manufacturing standards. They produce premium campervans on modern VW T6. 1 and Ford Transit platforms, keeping the spirit of the classic VW camper legacy alive through modern automotive technology and practical design.
